The First Kiln Firing

The first clay has come out of our kiln! Opening up the kiln is like an archeological dig — it is exciting to rediscover these ceramic artifacts that include cups, bowls, utensils, snowmen, critters, and one-of-a-kind creations. This bisque ware will be painted if it is sculpture and glazed if it is functional pottery. The glaze that we use fuses onto the clay surface in a second kiln firing, making the pottery food-safe.

  1. First off I would like to say wonderful blog! I had
a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I’ve had trouble clearing
my thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing
but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions or hints? Many thanks!
